P0755 Dodge Description. Shift solenoid valve B is turned ON or OFF by the Transmission Control Module (TCM) in response to signals sent from the park/neutral position (PNP) switch, vehicle speed and Engine Control Module (ECM) (throttle opening). Gears will then be shifted to the optimum position.
- The massive wiring harness moves a fair amount with engine going from R to D. Wiring failures tend to be related to insulator around wires cracking and engine mounts wearing out and allowing for excessive engine/tranny movement. I spent a month chasing 2-4 solenoid failure (P0755) on '04 Pacifica (CS).
- OBD II fault code P0755 is a generic code that is defined as “Shift solenoid (SS) B -circuit malfunction”, and is set when the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) or TCM (Transmission Control Module) detects an electrical malfunction either in the transmission shift solenoid labelled “B” itself, or in the “B” solenoid’s control circuit.
Every few weeks, I get a CEL and flashing arrow. After driving around in 3rd gear for a few miles or so, the car finally reverts back to driving normally. I reset the CEL light and the car is fine for a few weeks. Then, it all happens again. The code I pull is P0755, Shift Solenoid B Malfunction. I have a few questions about this.
a) Am I doing any more damage by letting this cycle continue?
P0755 Dodge Grand Caravan
b) How probable is it that replacing the shift solenoid would solve this?c) How much should I expect it to run me to have the shift solenoid replaced
